OSCE/ODIHR’s 2010 Annual Hate Crimes Report: call for submissions

ILGA-Europe will soon start preparing a comprehensive submission to the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) of the OSCE, in view of their annual report on “Hate Crimes in the OSCE Region – Incidents and Responses in 2010”.

This annual report (see the Annual Report for 2009) is prepared on the basis of the information provided by both participating States and NGOs. The NGOs can directly send submissions to the ODIHR, following the guidelines available on the Office’s website and by 1st April 2011.

ILGA-Europe will, as in previous years, prepare a comprehensive submission on European and central Asian countries, including all the information we collected in 2010. As a result, you can also choose to send us (joel@ilga-europe.org) all relevant information on incidents reported in 2010, so that it will be included in this comprehensive submission. The country-by-country information you have will be precious. However, as this report is a yearly report, please note that only incidents reported in 2010 can be considered.

It can well be the case that your organisation has not yet published or even put together this information for 2010, and that you believe you will not be able to provide it by the deadline of 1st April 2011. In that case, it is still relevant to send the information you have to ILGA-Europe, even after the deadline. The ODIHR usually comes back to contributors such as ILGA-Europe before the final report is published in November, so that complementary information and updates can be submitted.
